It’s come to my attention that I’m different. Not from myself, but from those around me. Minding my own business while running errands, I was reminded of this when a guy came up to me asking me if I needed help. Quote saying, “I got this lady, I’m sure its too heavy for you. I’ve carried much more greater”. Standing there, I thought of going on a tangent of how I lift patients and hundred pound stretchers for a living. But I figured going on this rant would result in me being labeled as the “crazy black woman”.
Why is that? How come a woman can’t be great without a cosigner or someone bringing them to that greatness. What happened to a self-made woman that men ogle at. Instead, what I come to find that they are more interested into someone they think they can bend to their liking and who can keep their mouth shut.
Bringing that to my realization, why is it that a woman is expected to bend and change their expectations for a man but not the other way around? We’re expected to listen to them, but when we try to speak our minds its “Women are strange” or “She doesn’t know what she’s talking about, she knew what this was”. Excuse me! I think it’s time for a change!
”
Women don’t need to find their voice. They need to feel empowered to use it and people need to be encouraged to listen. ” – Meghan Markle
We as women have the power alone to CONTINUE to make a positive impact in this world. When I say women, I mean ALL women. Not the billboard standard of what society thinks a woman should look like. I mean all women of all backgrounds. We are capable and we don’t need anything extra then who we are with sprinkles of faith and willpower to be great.
Point is…We are exquisite and we don’t need others to prove it to us. Our power comes from within!
