Growing up, I have to admit that I always felt that I was an exception.
Everyone can do that, except you.
They look amazing, except you.
You can do anything you put your mind to, but you you have to look like this.
In hindsight, I always let my situation consume me and bring me down resulting in me second guessing not only my intelligence, but my beauty, my mind, my spirit, and just me as a growing woman. In turn of that, I turned my motivation to other people and put all my beans into people that didn’t really have my best interest in mind. In turn, I was always left broken and lost. Searching for the next person who can lift me up instead of lifting up myself.
That phase has now ended. Faith and myself is all I need, and I think that goes for everyone. There will be times that we are alone or need a moment of spiritual solitude for physical, emotional, and mental growth.
These past few days were a bit rough for me. The voices of those who hurt me most became persistent in my head as I trek forward with my dreams of writing and medicine, making me doubt my intelligence. That stops today. The standard of me being a double minority wanting to work in EMS and later in Ortho/Trauma surgery also began to creep in. That stops today.
The fact of With God, anything is possible. Is a fact. If you don’t agree go with I can do anything I put my mind to. We are not exceptions. We are sledgehammers breaking the barriers for our generations to come. Setting our own standard for ourselves to make a small part of the world better.
Watching this video proved that to me. We are free with choices and discipline to make things happen. It doesn’t matter how saturated a field is or how difficult it is, or how many times we have failed. We are still capable! It is time we not forgot about how unique each one of us are.
We are not an exception to the everyone else achieving their dreams. We are capable and chosen!
